It was 10am on Main Street in Yerington, Nevada when the emergency sirens began to blare…not for a fire or medical or urgent incident…but for the highly anticipated Lyon County Fair & Rodeo Parade!
The entries and floats staged off of West Bridge Street on the Whitacre Street area travelled east on Bridge to Main Street, then north on Main all the way to Yerington City Hall at Main & Goldfield.
Yerington/Mason Valley Fire Protection District apparatus and volunteers started the festivities:
Some jaw-droppingly large and shiny farm tractors promenaded by…one red giant performed an impressive 180 degree “turn on a dime” and continued North on Main.

Studio 42 School of Dance and Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley represented in style:
Kerak Shrine service club, VFW Veterans of Foreign War, Girls Scouts, Wild West Chevrolet, South Lyon Medical Center, Central Lyon 4-H Club, Rural Nevada Counseling and other enthusiastic entries in purple proved to be crowd pleasers:
