Yerington NV – October 23, 2026
Happy Friday Yerington Community!
If you are out and about tomorrow you’re in for a treat. Our YHS Soccer teams (Boys and Girls) have matches at the High School field tomorrow starting at 10 a.m. If you aren’t aware, both soccer teams have been having an incredible season and I’d love for these teams to see a ton of community support at these games tomorrow.

Also happening tomorrow morning is the 3rd Annual Huntley Farm Craft Market. This event continues to grow and grow and I’m hearing this year is expected to be a huge event. I’ll attach their flyer for details.
Next week we have lots of Halloween activity. The City and Boys & Girls Club have partnered to join our Trunk-Or-Treat events.

It will be Wednesday, October 28 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. right outside the Boys and Girls Club on Main Street.
YHS is also hosting their community Trunk-Or-Treat event this same night.
Trick or Treating will happen on Saturday, October 31. Tailgaters is also putting on their 5th annual Boo-Fest event that Saturday. Tailgaters event kicks off at 4 p.m. and this event has also grown every year into a huge community event. I encourage you to take the family down and have some fun “Tailgating” as well as Trick-Or-Treating in town.

Our Yerington NV Police Department will be on site tomorrow to assist with the community Prescription Drug Take Back event happening at Raley’s. These events are key in helping keep unused medications out of the wrong hands and I am happy to see our department supporting these events. I’m told it is happening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at our local Raley’s. Thank you to all community partners who assist with this program.

Our public works crew took advantage of the moisture on the ground today and had our street sweeper out bright and early to do as much sweeping as we can without stirring up much dust. In addition to some street work recently, they’ve also been involved in some general cleanup around the city. If you know of an area in need of attention and want to be sure it’s on our radar, please feel free to send any info directly to me at jerryb@yerington.net.
We have two public meetings scheduled next week. On Monday at 10:00 a.m. is our regular City Council meeting, and on Wednesday at 3 p.m. is a Planning Commission meeting. Agendas and materials can always be found here: https://www.yerington.net/AgendaCenter
I won’t go into too much detail prior to the meetings, but on Monday we will be making an appointment to fill the vacant council seat. This seat expires on January 4, 2027 when the newly elected council members from the upcoming General Election start their new terms. We also have an update from our court, more suggested policy updates, and a discussion on the Land Use chapter of our Master Plan. If you’re not familiar with this last item, we’ve been discussing a chapter from our Master Plan every few meetings to keep the public and the council informed of the content of our Master Plan. This is an effort to keep it a living and breathing document that guides us as we make potentially impactful decisions.
The planning commission meeting on Wednesday is a discussion only meeting, in which we discuss early concepts and feasibility of additional single family homes.
City offices will be closed next Friday, in honor of the state holiday (am I the only one that thinks we should still celebrate Nevada Day on the original Nevada Day?).
Have a great weekend everyone!
