Mason Valley, Nevada ~ On the afternoon of Friday, July 28, 2023 the Yerington/ Mason Valley Fire Protection District Station was called for a fire at Yerington Paiute Tribe’s Campbell Ranch: multiple vehicles in the backyard of a home on Paiute Drive were burning, threatening homes and outbuildings.
Volunteers spent several hours dousing the extensive fire and mopping up afterward. Central Lyon County Fire sent their Engine 32 and personnel to assist.
The Yerington Paiute Tribal Council has been proceeding in their efforts to motivate residents of Campbell Ranch to remove unregistered vehicles from yards. But these efforts have been met with resistance from some residents. Collections of vehicles on properties can be very expensive to remove/remediate, and many homeowners cannot afford the cost.
