God’s Pantry – Neighbor Helping Neighbor

Pizen Switch Times thank Kristine Beck for writing and submitting this article:

God’s Pantry is a community service program offering personal hygiene and household cleaning products at no charge to those in need. The Pantry is sponsored by Community United Methodist Church of Yerington and is open every 3rd Wednesday of the month from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the church using the drive through format. Enter the church parking lot at 222 N. Center St and order from your car. God’s Pantry offers 28 commonly needed products such as soaps, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, personal wipes, toilet paper, dish soap, laundry soap, paper towels, tissues, etc. Each month participants can select up to 4 items.

God’s Pantry launched in March of 2020 and each month has served anywhere from 70 to 110 participants. They will always welcome more. Participants do not need to qualify, just have a self-identified need for assistance. Young families to Seniors and everyone in between are served every month.

The next God’s Pantry will be held Wednesday, October 20, 10:00AM to 1:00 PM. Community United Methodist Church parking lot, 222 N. Center St. Or you may park at 221 N. Main St and walk through the church yard to the parking lot. Look for the signs.

Please help the God’s Pantry volunteers spread the word. If you know someone who could be helped by this program, please tell them about it. For folks that go to the Food Pantry on Wednesdays, just go north on Center St. and pick up some non-food items. If you would like to donate to God’s Pantry with either product or money, you can call the church, leave a message if no one answers, and they will contact you. 775-463-2174
