It came down to the wire on Monday, as Flying Squirrels grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 8-7, over Disco Turkeys. The game was tied at seven in the bottom of the third when Sailor drew a walk, scoring one run.
Flying Squirrels jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Rainna homered to center field, scoring two runs, a steal of home scored one run, and Evelyn drew a walk, scoring one run.
Flying Squirrels added one run in the second after Ainsley walked.
Disco Turkeys flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring seven runs on two hits to take the lead, 7-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a walk by Sophia P that drove in two.
Flying Squirrels captured the lead, 8-7, in the bottom of the third after Sheralynn walked, and Sailor walked, each scoring one run.
Sheralynn earned the win for Flying Squirrels. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits and seven runs over two innings, striking out four and walking eight. Sadee S took the loss for Disco Turkeys. The pitcher went one and one-third innings, allowing seven runs on three hits, striking out four and walking nine. Rainna opened the game for Flying Squirrels. The righty gave up zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out two and walking two.
Ainsley and Rainna each drove in one run for Flying Squirrels. Rainna went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Flying Squirrels in hits. Flying Squirrels had a strong eye at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game. Ainsley, Delilah, and Evelyn led the team with two bases on balls each. Ainsley and Evelyn each stole multiple bases for Flying Squirrels. Flying Squirrels ran wild on the base paths, accumulating seven stolen bases for the game. Flying Squirrels were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Evelyn made the most plays with three.
Sophia C and Allison B each collected one hit for Disco Turkeys. Sophia went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Disco Turkeys had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 10 walks for the game. Sadee, Melody H, and Sophia led the team with two walks each. Addie S stole two bases. Disco Turkeys ran wild on the base paths, piling up six stolen bases for the game. Disco Turkeys were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Allison made the most plays with three.
