Nevada Highway Patrol reported that State Route 827 near Lyon County mile marker 1 in Yerington was closed from 4:30am to 9:30am on Wednesday, September 9th, 2021 due to an automobile collision.
Mason Valley residents know this stretch of road more commonly as Mason Road which connects to State Route 208 and State Route 339. The road is known by locals to be straight with relatively good visibility for drivers.
It has been reported that a young adult female and her yet-to-be-born child both died in this collision. The other occupant of the car was care flighted with serious injuries.
The driver of the pickup was reported to be uninjured.
Preliminary clues point to the small car driving toward and colliding with the truck’s back end. The Nevada Highway Patrol will release it’s findings at a later date.
Many local residents mourn the loss of these lives in the tight knit community of Mason Valley.
