South Lyon Medical Center Seeing a Surge in COVID19 – Requesting Community Assistance in Slowing Current Trend
8/9/2021
South Lyon Medical Center has seen a marked increase in positive and suspected COVID patients over the past several weeks. We are asking residents who have tested positive or told to quarantine to please follow those guidelines to help protect the community and decrease the number of exposures.
QUAD County reported last Thursday, August 5 that Lyon County had 164 new cases and 1 new death. They reported our 14-day moving average was 15 cases per day with a 16.3% test positivity rate. Our reported positivity rate on August 9 is 18.0%. That is one of the highest positivity rates since the pandemic began.
The facility is holding vaccine clinics and has requested additional testing and vaccine clinics through QUAD County and the Carson City Health and Human Services team. The next testing is set for tomorrow, August 10 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Yerington Community Center. We are encouraging residents who have symptoms or have had an exposure to be tested and to follow current guidelines for recovery.
The facility has therapeutics and has administered at least three doses in the past two weeks. We are here to support our community and residents but also need help from the community through the current surge in our area. Vaccines will be available from Noon to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10 at the Yerington Community Center.
If you have questions, please talk to your primary care provider.
