Pop-Up Medical Clinic and Mobile Dental Services Come to Yerington May 19

Yerington, Nevada – To bring care to rural communities such as Yerington and Silver Springs, UNR medical students offer free, pop-up clinics in coordination with the regional nonprofit Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties (HCC). The nonprofit also works with dentists to bring mobile dental services to people in Lyon County.

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine offers another in a series of free Rural Outreach Clinics on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 213 South Whitacre Street in Yerington from 9AM to 3PM. The pop-up clinic provides free medical services such as general physicals, immunizations, laboratory services, well and sick child visits, pregnancy and STD testing, and more.

Walk-ins are welcome, or call 775-772-3133 for an appointment. The last walk -in will be accepted anytime before 1PM. Spanish language translators are present at every clinic.

In addition, dental services are available for those who make an appointment. The schedule is full for the May 19th event. However, people are encouraged to contact Norma Espinoza at Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties (HCC) at 775-770-8679 to make appointments for future events. The mobile dental company, Drop-In Dental, does NOT provide cleanings, but they do offer dental exams, x-rays, fillings, extractions and referrals.

Mobile clinics can reduce rural obstacles to finding medical and dental care. Pop-up clinics like these can eliminate the need for long drives to services that are sometimes hours away.
