Elizabeth “Liz” Linares Black ~ 1976 to 2023 ~ “Until we see you again, fly high sweet Liz”

Elizabeth “Liz” Linares Black of Smith Valley, passed away at the age of 46 on Sunday February 26, 2023, at home surrounded by close family. Born in Los Angeles, California on November 8, 1976, to April Serna and Jose Linares, she was a former resident of Sylmar, Canyon Country, and Simi Valley. Liz graduated from Sylmar High School in 1994 and studied nursing at California State University, Northridge.

On March 6, 2007, Liz married the love of her life, Matthew Black. With their son Joshua, Matt and Liz moved to Smith, Nevada in 2016. Side by side they built their business and created a life filled with family, friends, and community. She loved their time spent as a family camping, boating, hiking, mountain biking, and always as his greatest cheerleader, watching Josh race dirt bikes. She loved old movies, and a book was never far from her hand.

Liz possessed a kind heart, compassionate soul, and a fierce love for her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, sister-in-law, and friend.

Liz is survived by her husband, son, and parents, as well as her sister and brother-in-law Laura and Gus Lomeli, brother and sister-in-law Jose and Brenda Linares, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Chris and Nicole Cournoyer, and Richard and Marlene Zamarripa, and nephews Joe, Jeffery, Brandon, Jacob and Josiah and nieces Alyssa, Emily, Liz, Ashley, Chloe, and Bianca. Liz’s beautiful smile will also be remembered by countless additional family and friends.

Until we see you again, fly high sweet Liz, and continue to look after us all now, as you did so much in life.

Services will be held on Friday May 12, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Yerington, Nevada. A gathering at the church will be immediately following.  Family and friends are invited to sign her online guest book at www.FRFH.net
