Leo “Lee” G. Butler of Yerington, Nevada Passed Away on April 27, 2023

Lee G. Butler passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at the South Lyon Medical Center/LTC in Yerington.  He was 86.

Lee was born in Berkeley, California. He relocated to Chicago, Illinois, where he met his wife Arlene and they were married for 68 years.

Lee worked at the Nabisco bakery in Chicago as a baking foreman. In 1969, Lee was transferred to the Nabisco Bakery in Buena Park, California. His position at Nabisco was Superintendent of Baking.

Lee, Arlene and their only son Don relocated to Orange, California in 1969. While living in Orange, Lee had two passions, the California Angels, in which he had season tickets, and his other love was the High Sierras especially the Upper Twin Lakes at Bridgeport, California. Lee, Arlene and Don would spend many summers enjoying fishing, cooking and camping at Upper Twin Lake.

Lee retired from Nabisco after 32 years in 1985. In 1984 while returning from a vacation to his parent’s home in Utah and on route to Bridgeport, California, the family stopped in a little town of Yerington, Nevada for lunch. Lee and Arlene fell in love with Yerington and decided to retire there. Lee and Arlene have been residents of Yerington for 36 years.

Lee is survived by his wife Arlene, his son Don and his wife Sher, two grandchildren and their families, one great grandchild, one brother and his family, and many nieces and nephews and their families. Amongst family and friends, Lee was famous for his bar-b-que ribs, some of the best you’ll ever taste. and everyone knows ” The timing is the key.” wink wink…
