The 2021 Nike Cross Regionals Southwest were broadcast live from Shalimar Golf Club, Tempe, AZ on Saturday, November 20th. The broadcast began at 7:50 a.m. MT. NikeCrossNationals.com will be the exclusive location to watch the full replay of the races.
Kutoven Stevens ran in the Boy’s Championship event at 9:50 a.m. pacific time. The Championship event, with 197 top runners from the Southwestern Region of United States began after the conclusion of 2 other races: Boy’s Small School and Medium School.
Out of 197 top runners in the Southwestern United States, Kutoven wearing the 7575 bib placed in the top 20 coming in at 15:25:77. He was 8th in the unattached athletes. Ku has a history of running at the head of the pack, and he was put to the test in this race against the best of the best.
As racers were preparing to run, Nike Cross Regional announcers called out Ku as a competitor with Native American roots; 2A State Champion of Nevada; “one of the stand outs…running at a collegiate level.” They noted that Kutoven was running for something bigger than himself…
Indeed!
The NXR just gave Kutoven even more drive and incentive to reach his potential, as an athlete and an ambassador.
