Yerington NV – October 30, 2026
Happy Nevada Day!
Like many of you, I’m Nevada born and raised (Once a Serpent, Always a Serpent).
As such, Nevada Day has always meant something to me. As I sit in the office today I find myself reflecting on how proud I am to be “Battle Born.”
I shared some words yesterday, of what it means to be Battle Born. It’s not just a tribute to our Civil War origins, it’s a summary of our character, our individualism and pioneer spirit. Most importantly to me, it’s the determination to overcome challenges. I truly feel that Yerington shows this determination and character in many ways.
With that, let’s get to some community updates!
First and foremast, let’s wish our YHS Soccer teams luck at the Nevada State Championships today and tomorrow! Both our Boys’ and Girls’ teams enter the tournament undefeated and we are hoping to recognize them when they return home tomorrow night! I never want to jinx anything, but I’m hopeful they return with some hardware. I know they’ll represent us well!

Also happening tomorrow is the 5th Annual Halloween Boofest at Tailgaters’. This huge event kicks off at 4 p.m. and has become a wonderful part of our Halloween traditions in Yerington. Be sure to go by and have some fun.
Trick-Or-Treating will be happening tomorrow night as well. Expect some road closures on Bridge Street and Oregon Street as we experiment with ways to make this more safe for the community as a whole.

I’m sure he doesn’t mind me sharing, but I can’t wait to see the display at the Borsini’s house on Bridge Street tomorrow night! They have something special planned for Trick-Or-Treating tomorrow. If you’re house, or a neighbor are all decked out be sure to drop some photos in the comments to share and encourage the families to come see it!
I’ll add a few flyers for upcoming events in town next week, including events at the Library, SLMC, and the Christmas Bazaar happening November 7.

Tuesday, November 3, is Election Day. Yerington City Hall will be a polling location for the day. Be sure to come by and say hello while performing your civic duty!
The FAA was on site today to commission our newly installed AWOS III system at the Yerington Municipal Airport. For those of you with interest in this field, you know how wonderful of an addition this item will be to our airport. This item was funded by grants with only a 5% match.

You’ve probably heard me say recently that we were seeking many grants for street repairs and improvements as well. I received notification today that some of these grant requests were unsuccessful. While that wasn’t the result I was hoping for, I knew it was a possibility. Repairs and roadwork did not stop while we took our shot at these larger funding opportunities. We will continue our course of making modest but necessary improvements where we can, while still working towards larger projects to overhaul and improve our infrastructure with grant support when possible.
If you’ve driven by the high school recently, you may have noticed a new cross walk and better marked No Parking zones. These are part of our efforts to constantly collaborate with school officials, law enforcement and the community listen and make improvements where we can. In the near future, you’ll see some items on future agendas that again reflect our willingness to listen to the community and law enforcement to improve the safety of our town. (I have to stop there, so as not to say too much about items before they are publicly discussed though.)
With that, I’m sure I’ll see many of you out and about tomorrow night! Once I have final details of our YHS Soccer teams returning to town, I’ll be sure to share those details as well, so that we can give them a warm welcome!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me directly at jerryb@yerington.net.
Sincerley,
Jerry Bryant
