City of Yerington Recognizes Gavin Draper for Dedicated Public Service

YERINGTON, NV — August 10, 2026 — At the City Council meeting on Monday, August 10, 2026, Yerington Mayor John J. Garry and Yerington City Council members Nick Beaton, Omar Lopez and Shane Martin officially recognized Gavin Draper for his two years of exceptional service and dedication to the City of Yerington. City leaders, staff, and community members gathered to bid a temporary goodbye to Draper as he departs to pursue his college education at Montana Technological University.

Over his two-year tenure with the city, Draper set a gold standard for public service and team dedication. Known for his unwavering work ethic, he consistently stepped up during early mornings, late nights, and holidays. His dedication to beautifying Yerington—especially along Main Street and within city parks—has made a real, lasting impact on the entire community.

During the presentation of his award, city leaders and officials shared tributes highlighting his contributions:

Yerington Main Street Committee: Executive Director Melanie Young shared her heartfelt gratitude for all the work Gavin has done across multiple projects, noting that his work ethic stood out above all others.

Public Works Director Paul Shapiro stated that it would be very difficult to replace him, adding that Gavin is “not just a credit to the city, but also a credit to his mom and dad.”

The Mayor, City Council, and city staff extend their deepest gratitude to Gavin for his outstanding service and hard work. While he will be deeply missed, the City of Yerington wishes him nothing but success in his studies at Montana Tech and looks forward to welcoming him back in the future.
