Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties’ next public meeting is Thursday, August 13, 2026 at the Silver Springs Community Center at 2945 Fort Churchill Street, Silver Springs, Nevada 89429 from 9:00 am to 11:00am.

The nonprofit’s August meeting includes presentations by guest speakers.

Yerington High student and 2026 Nevada Poetry Out Loud Champion Mari Basaca Fuentes will open the public meeting with poetry.

Following a recitation of poetry by Mari, Directing Attorney of the Northern Offices for Nevada Legal Services, Krissta Kirschenheiter,  will give an overview of workers’ rights programs and services.

Yerington High student and Nevada Poetry Out Loud Champion Mari Basaca Fuentes will open our Aug. 13, 2026 public meeting with poetry! Please join us at 9am at the Silver Springs Community Center for a recitation of poetry by Mari, followed by a presentation by Krissta Kirschenheiter, Directing Attorney of the Northern Offices for Nevada Legal Services. Krissta will give an overview of workers’ rights programs and services. Healthy Communities’ bi-monthly meetings include breakfast by The Roasting House and coffee. We hope you can join us!

In addition to a catered breakfast and guest presentations, the Coalition’s bi-monthly meetings include updates and announcements from Coalition staff, volunteers and community partners.

Healthy Communities is comprised of local, state, federal and tribal group partners, community volunteers, and a board of directors and staff all working together on a common goal to strengthen communities in the Lyon and Storey regions. The Coalition strives to promote and support sustainable, inclusive prevention services, community initiatives, and capacity building systems that address all components of a healthy community.
