Yerington NV – June 26, 2026
It’s another windy Friday in the valley.
Here’s to hoping it slows down a bit tonight, just in time for tonight’s Hope Roundup event happening at the YTA. This event supports the equine therapy program at Sierra Sage Treatment Center and is always a great night of fun! Flyer is attached.

I’m also including the flyer for next week’s 4th of July festivities so that you can start planning accordingly. There will be a lot of excitement around town and we even have a special flag ceremony planned here at City Hall. I can’t wait to see everyone here!

I’m again attaching information for summer activities for kids that I strongly suggest – the swimming pool and the library. These are both low cost/high reward entertainment for kids through the summer months (or year round for the library!). Please take advantage of these wonderful opportunities for your kids to have some wholesome and valuable experiences this summer. I’d also like to thank the many volunteers and small staffs that pour their hearts into making these programs work.

Speaking of work, work is about to begin on a Taco Bell coming to town. Within the next few weeks, crews will break ground on our latest fast food addition. Taco Bell will be located along the highway, near Raley’s and McDonald’s(right across from us at City Hall).
I wanted to address some recent comments about truck traffic on rural roads and state highways in the area. I want to assure the community that I am in frequent communication with representatives discussing things such as safety on the roadways, planning routes, road repairs, etc.
In fact, in an area where a city road had given way (East Cremetti), the responsible party was quick to show up and repair it, as is required in our agreement with them. Regarding use along highways, the city has less leverage because the road does not belong to us, however, we still strongly advocate for our community and make efforts for improvements often.

I’m happy to address road and safety concerns on behalf of the public, it is my job to do so! In fact, discussions like this make up a good part of my day.
If you have specific concerns please send them my way so I can either work to remedy it, or in some cases provide insight or updates as to why it was done the way it was.
While I won’t promise that I’ll always be able to accommodate everybody, I certainly make efforts when possible.
Safety, road repair, or other concerns can always be sent my way directly at jerryb@yerington.net.
Work was done by public works this week to continue repairing roads around some of our residential neighborhoods. We also made significant progress repairing sprinkler systems at our parks around the tennis and pickleball courts. Work will begin soon to repair sprinkler systems in Veteran’s Park, where water seems to gather in all the wrong places.
This past week was a busy one for our City Council. They approved an updated CBA with our Police Officers Association. And they updated several contract agreements, including our Judge, Building Inspector, and myself.
Regarding the decision to remove “Interim” from my title, I’d like to thank the Council, the Mayor and all of our community for the wonderful support they showed me this past year. I hear from citizens often that they are seeing a lot of positives in our community, and the honest answer is that this is due to the many wonderful people in town that make this happen. From City staff to volunteers and business partners throughout the community, I’m fortunate to be surrounded by great and hard working people who want to pull in the same direction I do. I can’t take credit for the progress we have made. I’m simply in the right place at the right time. Thank you for all of the wonderful words of support I’ve received this week.
With that, I need to get out of here and check in on some little league teams. These kids and coaches have been representing our community very well at the Nevada District tournament these last two weeks. Once the tournaments conclude, I’ll do a write up to show just how well they’ve done putting Yerington on the map!
Have a great weekend Yerington!
