Sofia Kling is Yerington’s 2026 Portuguese Festa Queen our Queen for this year!
Sofia, born in Fallon, NV and is the second youngest of four sisters. Family is a prevalent part of her life – along with love for her sisters, Sofia also greatly enjoys being an aunt to her one year old nephew.
She is a dedicated student and athlete, with an accomplished academic record, Sofia hopes to one day become a doctor. She also is a member of the Holy Family Youth Group and looks forward to the continuation of learning more about her faith. In addition to her academic successes, Sofia also is a committed athlete with three years in Cross Country and Track, and hopes to continue her athletic career once she starts high school.

Auction items help to support our scholarships and keep our Festa strong! From baked goods and spirits to house decor and art, if there is anything you’d like to auction, you may drop it off at the Catholic Hall between 9 and 3 o’clock on Saturday, or in the morning on Sunday.
The Yerington Portuguese Festa will be held this Sunday, June 7th, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Yerington. The event starts with the procession to the church at 10, followed by mass at 10:30, followed by a traditional lunch of sopas, sweet bread, and Portuguese beans at 12:00 noon. The festival honors the Holy Ghost and commemorates the miracle of Queen Isabella offering her crown to provide food for her people, ending a famine in the early 1300’s.
