Election 2026: Tim Shaffer announces Candidacy for Lyon County Sheriff

For many years, Lyon County has been the place my family and I are proud to call home.

After a great deal of thought and many conversations with my family, friends and members of our community, I am proud to announce that I am running for Lyon County Sheriff.

Lyon County is where many of us chose to build our lives, raise our families, and invest in our future. Our community deserves a Sheriff’s Office built on trust, approachable leadership, and
meaningful partnerships with the people it serves. When law enforcement stays connected to the community, listens to residents, and works collaboratively with local partners, our entire county becomes safer, healthier, and stronger.

Over the past few years, I’ve listened to residents, deputies, and community members who want leadership they can approach and trust—leadership that supports our law enforcement
professionals and is committed to working together to keep our county safe.

I believe Lyon County is ready for that kind of leadership.

If elected Sheriff, my focus will be on supporting our deputies, strengthening relationships with the communities we serve, and ensuring the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office operates with transparency, professionalism, and accountability.

This campaign is about the future of Lyon County and restoring confidence that the Sheriff’s Office works for the people it serves. I am committed to earning your trust and leading an agency that our county can be proud of.

Over the coming months, I look forward to meeting with many of you, hearing your concerns, and building the support needed to move Lyon County forward.
