LCSO Message of the Week on February 20, 2026

Lyon County NV – February 20, 2026

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office offers our official Sheriff App (cell phone), designed to keep our community informed, connected, and safe. The Sheriff’s App includes a feature that allows residents to submit a tip anonymously or contact the Sheriff’s Office (Pictured here).

We are receiving several “tips” and questions; however, the contact information is left blank a majority of the time. Many of the tips or questions we receive require follow-up. That makes it imperative that the contact information is complete. Pictured:

With the Sheriff App, residents can:

-Receive real-time alerts and emergency notifications

-Access press releases and important announcements

-Submit tips directly to our office

-View detention information and community resources

-Stay up to date on events, road closures, and public safety updates

-Access sex offender information and their registered address

Please do not use the Sheriff’s App to report an active traffic incident, or any emergency; use your phone to call 911 or our dispatch center at 775-463-6620. The tips submitted are received via email, and you will not receive an immediate response.

Example 1: “There is a red Honda driving erratically south on Highway 95.”

Example 2: “A suspicious person is checking car doors on my street.”

These examples are taken from actual tips submitted and were not acted upon due to delays in email delivery and distribution. We receive tips like these regularly.

We encourage all Lyon County residents to download the app and stay connected. Public safety is strongest when our community and law enforcement work together.

Respectfully,

Sheriff Brad Pope
