Obituary for Sara Marie Hawkes White : August 3, 1934 to April 20, 2025

Sara was 90 years old when she passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025 at South Lyon Medical Center with her daughter Nancy at her side.

Sara was born on August 3, 1934 in Portland, Maine to Seth Woodman Hawkes and Ada Louise Stevens. She moved to Yerington, Nevada in 2014 to be with her family.

She was very proud of our family’s long military history, loved America and thoroughly enjoyed the freedoms of our country. She was a member of the Baptist Church in Mason, Nevada. Prior to living in Yerington, Sara was a long time resident of Lompoc, California. She deeply loved her family, was very outgoing and a hard worker. She instilled a strong sense of faith, patriotism, tradition and family ties in all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sara will be missed by her family and friends: brother Edward (Phyllis) Warren; sister Maudanne Warren; her children Nancy (Joe) Henriques, Suellen (Bill) Bowles, Linda (Wayne) Stevens, Jeff (Tracey) Foster; stepchildren Ben (Trish) Dela Cruz, Raymond (Rhonda) Dela Cruz, Terry (Cindy) Foster; and many more grandchildren, great grandchildren, & great great grandchildren; Special friend Alice Testolin; and many more family members and friends. Sara is preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Foster, and second husband, Harold J. White; father, Seth Hawkes; mother, Ada L. Warren; stepfather, Edward R. Warren; daughter, Irma F. Sawley; stepson, Michael Foster; sister, Nancy Butterfield; stepsisters, Evelyn Taylor and June Warren.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life in honor of Sara on Saturday, July 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the Mountain View Park on Mountain View Lane in Yerington, Nevada, 89447. The service will be performed by Pastor Travis and Summer Walker from Smith Valley Baptist Church.

Sara’s favorite colors were Pink and Purple.

Luncheon will be provided.
