Beloved Yerington Resident Delbert Matheus Passes Away

August 19, 1945 – August 20, 2021

Delbert Alfred Matheus passed away in Yerington Nevada on Friday August 20, 2021, he had just turned 76.

Delbert was born in Hawthorne, Nevada on August 19, 1945 as a triplet with brothers David and Daniel, the sons of Francis and Phyllis Matheus.

Delbert’s family returned to Yerington while he was very young and he came to be a very proud member of the Yerington community.  He worked numerous jobs in his life starting at Thrifty Market, then moving to the Continental Telephone Company from there off to Top Notch Construction and eventually to where he retired as a Lyon County Dog Catcher. His greatest loves were his wife, family, golf and whiskey. Delbert never met a stranger and always had his legendary greeting of “HEY KID”, upon any meeting.

Delbert is survived by his wife Sharon Matheus, siblings Marian Pinkerton, Janet Matheus and James (Karen) Matheus, numerous children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis & Phyllis Matheus, triplet brothers David & Daniel and Older brother Francis Jr.

 A Celebration of Life will be held on October 3rd at 11:30, at the Mountain View Park in Yerington, Nevada. Lunch will be served.
