Mason Valley Fire Protection District, one of four fire districts within Lyon County, is incredibly grateful to announce that between the four fire districts, we have been awarded over $1.4 million in grant funding through the Nevada Health Authority Rural Health Transformation EMS Grant!
This incredible milestone is 100% & solely due because of the hard work of Lyon County leadership.
A massive thank you goes out to:
• Lyon County Emergency Management
• Lyon County Human Services
• Lyon County Comptroller
• Lyon County Manager
• And especially, the Lyon County Board of Commissioners!
In reality, our fire districts only had to submit our “wish list” to Taylor Allison, Celeste MacFarlane, and Shayla Holmes with Lyon County—and they stepped up to do all of the heavy lifting to secure these funds.
Because the four fire districts serving Lyon County operate as their own independent governmental entities under Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS), Lyon County was under absolutely no obligation to secure this funding for us. Despite any misconceptions that the County doesn’t support its fire districts, this action proves the exact opposite.
This massive achievement shows just how deeply committed Lyon County is to its fire districts and to ensuring we have the resources needed to provide the absolute best emergency services possible to all citizens and visitors of Lyon County.
