By Jerry Bryant, Yerington City Manager
YERINGTON, NEVADA – At its regular meeting on Monday, October 12, 2026, the Yerington City Council engaged in an active discussion regarding the City’s Housing Master Plan and future residential development needs. The Council also approved Phase II of the proposed Harvest RV Resort, representing another step toward expanding development opportunities within the city.
The housing discussion focused on current housing trends, population changes, affordability, and anticipated future housing demands. According to the City’s Housing Master Plan, Yerington’s housing vacancy rate declined from 19.3% in 2012 to just 1.3% in 2022, highlighting the need for additional housing opportunities. The plan also identifies a growing demand for diversified housing options, including apartments, duplexes, townhomes, manufactured housing, and senior living accommodations.
Council members discussed the importance of planning for future growth while ensuring adequate infrastructure, utilities, and community services are available to support new development. Particular attention was given to the relationship between housing availability and economic development, including the need to accommodate workforce growth and attract new businesses to the community.
In a separate agenda item, the City Council approved Phase II of the Harvest RV Resort concept, a proposed recreational vehicle resort located near Bridge Street and Perumean Lane. The development concept includes landscaped RV spaces, a community center, services and snack bar, recreational areas, a pond, laundry facilities, and other guest amenities. The overall development plan also identifies approximately 10 acres of undeveloped property reserved for a potential Phase III expansion, which may include multifamily housing, or mobile home concepts in the near future, both identified as critical needs.
The Harvest RV Resort concept represents an opportunity to expand visitor accommodations, encourage tourism, and support local businesses while making productive use of available land within city limits.
