University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine Honors Dr. Wartgow with Outstanding Clinical Rural Faculty Award
The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) celebrated an inspiring evening at its Graduate Reception, recognizing exceptional leaders and mentors within Nevada’s medical community. Among the evening’s honorees was Dr. Kaleb Wartgow, who received the Outstanding Clinical Rural Faculty Award.
The award was presented by Class of 2026 student Maria Rincon Olivares, who spoke passionately about Dr. Wartgow’s dedication to rural medicine, mentorship, and service to underserved communities throughout Nevada.
“Dr. Wartgow has consistently been a shining example for students about what rural medicine is all about: developing community, ingenuity, and a whole lot of dedication,” said Rincon Olivares. “Through rain, shine, and even snow, Dr. Wartgow has always shown up not only for his patients, but especially for our students. His commitment to serving his community has inspired me and many others to always be looking for ways to meet the needs of underserved populations. On behalf of the Class of 2026, thank you for your leadership, mentorship, and commitment to serving rural Nevada.”
UNR Med expressed gratitude for Dr. Wartgow’s continued contributions to medical education and patient care, noting that his leadership and commitment embody the values of compassionate rural healthcare.
The Graduate Reception was a tremendous success, bringing together students, faculty, and community members to celebrate the achievements and dedication of those shaping the future of medicine in Nevada.
