“I’d love to share some photos highlighting what the City of Yerington has helped accomplish for our residents. We’re especially grateful for the support from private organizations in Yerington that donated the pickleball/tennis practice wall- it’s made a meaningful impact on our community. We truly appreciate all the support and enthusiasm for growing pickleball in our area.”

The City of Yerington continues to take meaningful steps to enhance the quality of life for its residents, and recent improvements across the community are a testament to what can be achieved through collaboration and shared vision.

Among these accomplishments, the addition of a pickleball and tennis practice wall stands out as particularly impactful. This project was made possible through the partnership & generous support of local private organizations & the City of Yerington whose investment in community recreation has created new opportunities for people of all ages to stay active, connect, and enjoy the growing sport of pickleball.

Speaking for many Yerington residents, Vicky Ross expressed sincere gratitude to these partners and to the many community members whose enthusiasm continues to drive the expansion of recreational opportunities in Yerington. Together, their support is helping to build a stronger, healthier, and more vibrant community.

Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States, and it’s easy to see why—it’s fun, social, and accessible to players of nearly all ages and skill levels.

At its core, pickleball is a paddle sport that blends elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It’s played on a smaller court than tennis, using a solid paddle and a lightweight plastic ball with holes (similar to a wiffle ball). Games can be played as singles or doubles, though doubles is especially popular because of the social aspect.
