Yerington Elementary School – Yerington, Nevada in August 2025
Building Community and Collaboration for Student Success
Nestled in the heart of Yerington, Nevada, Yerington Elementary School has long been a vibrant cornerstone of the communityānot just for the young learners who walk its classrooms, but also for their families, educators, and the many individuals who contribute to the schoolās thriving culture. As the summer warmth gives way to the anticipation of a new academic year beginning on Tuesday, September 2nd, excitement grows around opportunities for deeper engagement and partnership among all who are invested in the success of Yeringtonās children.
The Role of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
The PTO at Yerington Elementary School is much more than a fundraising or volunteer groupāit is a true partner in shaping the educational experience for every child. The organization brings together parents, guardians, teachers, and administrators to foster a sense of community, improve communication, and enhance the resources and opportunities available to students.
The Inspiration Behind the Wall
The idea for the Wall of Encouragement emerged during a PTO meetings held over the last year. Parents shared concerns about the growing pressures students faceābe it academic, social, or emotional. The PTO recognized the need for a tangible, daily reminder that each child at Y.E.S. has a community behind them, rooting for their success and well-being. The PTO decided to craft a wall that every student would pass by each day. The goal was straightforward: to infuse the school environment with optimism, resilience, and belonging.

During the month of August, the YES PTO Volunteers gathered to finish the ‘Wall of Encouragement’ for returning students, families and teachers to view. Why did these volunteers do this?! For love of the students, for love of our community.
The next Yerington Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization meeting is September 17th, 2025, 5:30pm at the Rebellious Rose. New members welcome!
