The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and the Lyon County School District have continued to expand their partnership by adding a second School Resource Officer in Fernley. Starting today, Sergeant Kosak will be assigned to the Northern Command as Fernley Schools’ second School Resource Officer.
Our School Resource Officers throughout the County are extremely busy, due to the number of schools in the Fernley area, and the number of reports drawn from those schools, I believe a second School Resource Officer was warranted. The zero-tolerance policy on crimes committed in school is working well, and we are grateful for the partnership with the School District.
For the first time in nearly a decade, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has zero open Deputy positions. Besides not having any open positions, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has created a hiring list and will continue to aggressively recruit Deputies to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. Seven Deputies are currently in the Nevada POST academy, earning the certifications to be patrol deputies, and we are looking forward to getting them on the street in June.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message.
