Lyon County Clerk/Treasurer Addresses Assembly District Precinct Issue
Yerington, Nevada – In response to a statement issued Friday by the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office, Lyon County Clerk/Treasurer Staci Lindberg confirms the Clerk’s Office was made aware on Friday, November 1st of an issue involving the placement of a portion of Lyon County Precinct 26 in an incorrect Assembly District. Following a review, this portion of Precinct 26 was not redistricted as intended by the passage of Senate Bill 1 of the 2021 Special Legislative Session and remained in Assembly District 38, when it should have been moved to Assembly District 39.
The Clerk’s Office is committed to fully investigating the details surrounding this issue. As this discovery was made during the conduct of the 2024 General Election, both the Lyon County Clerk/Treasurer’s Office and the Secretary of State’s Office have concluded that no meaningful changes can be made before the election closes.
In line with Nevada law, specifically NRS 293.427, any contest or dispute involving State Legislative seats is to be reviewed by the Legislature. All impacted candidates have been informed of the situation.
We will continue to communicate with the Secretary of State’s Office and provide additional information as it becomes available. For questions or further assistance, please contact the Lyon County Clerk’s Office at (775) 463-6501.
