Frank Pizzo Summarizes His Bid for Re-Election to the Yerington City Council

Pizen Switch Times: Candidates for local offices are welcome to send their candidacy announcement  for publication in “Elections”.

I am Frank Pizzo and am running for re-election for the City Council of Yerington. I have served on the Council for 3 years.

Yerington has been my home for 35 years. I have been married to my wife Mary for 26 years and we love our Community.

Serving on the City Council entails more than just a few meetings a month: I serve on the Safety committee, Law Enforcement committee and the Airport committee. Also, I have reached out to a promotional company to help promote business and events that will bring revenue to Yerington.

The last time we had a meeting they wanted to do a survey to see what best suits our City.

I also spearheaded VORRA Racing to bring their operation to our city. Director of VORRA Racing, Laura Butcher, was able to secure a grant to clean up the property and make it usable for all events. This will bring business to the merchants and the City can also profit from this.

When we were having problems with our phone system through Frontier Communications and I was unable to get any help from Frontier, I contacted the media at channel 4 news out of Reno. I told them my phone had been out of service for 2 months and that City Hall had no service on and off for 2 months. Channel 4 news came here from Reno and did a report on it and featured myself on their five o’clock news. The problem was fixed immediately.

I also brought to channel 4 News the safety issues we have on Miller Lane. Since then, more stop signs were put in and the speed limit was dropped; and believe it has made a impact on Miller Lane.

As a member of the Safety committee we have put up larger stop signs and more of them. We are looking into flashing lights. The cross walks have all been re-done. The new Kiss and Drop area will have a ribbon cutting next month. Working with fellow members of the Safety committee, I feel we are going in the right direction.

The Airport committee I am on has done a Fly In the last 3 years and keeps getting bigger every year.
We also had a new sign painted as you enter our Airport, we are also trying to promote business opportunities.

Safety and Security is a major concern of mine for our community. I am very happy to say that our new (Interim) Chief of Police has the department up to full staff. Thank you Chris Miller.

My volunteering did not start yesterday. I have been volunteering for over 8 years in our community and was awarded volunteer of the year from the Boy’s and Girls Club, this was a honor for me to receive. I do the Food Bank, the Harvest, and the Senior boxes. Also still volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club, helping with their car show, Night in the County and anything else they need help with.

I am currently working on getting a new building for our Police Department which will be housed at City Hall.
This will combine the Police Department with the Justice Department. I am currently looking at grants to fund this, there will be no loans or tax increase for this project.

We the City are working diligently on getting a new well.

I try to attend all events in our community. And am honored to be endorsed by our Mayor John Garry.

I would be honored to serve another term for the City of Yerington
