Alice Carrie Burnett ~ September 29, 1930 to October 23, 2023 ~ In Loving Memory

Alice Carrie (Taylor) (Graham) Burnett passed away on October 23, 2023, at the age of 93 Years. She passed away peacefully at home in Yerington surrounded by her family.

Alice Carrie Taylor was born in Allegan, Michigan on September 29, 1930, to Homer and Ruby (Brown) Taylor.

Alice obtained her High School Diploma at Grant High School in 1972. That’s right, she was 42 years old! Alice had to leave school after the 8th grade to help her family, and went back to high school with her daughter (after her husband James died in 1971).

Alice worked on the family farm in Ensley Center, Michigan with her husband, James until he passed away in 1971.

On June 18, 1977, she married Howard Burnett and gained two more sons.

Howard and Alice then moved to Tennessee and lived there until 1985 and built a beautiful home together in the Smoky mountains. Due to Howard’s health they then moved to Nevada for the dry air as it helped him breathe easier and they fell in love with Yerington.

Alice became a Nevada State Weighmaster in 1986 and has been weighing trucks up until just a few weeks ago. She always spoke lovingly of the truck drivers she met and how a lot of them became like an extended family to her.

Alice was a life-time chartered member of the VFW Auxiliary and served on the Grant School PTA for over 27 years.

Alice’s passion became bowling almost 50 years ago and she served in numerous leagues as a secretary. She went to National bowling tournaments for over 20 years and was a delegate of the National bowling conventions. She won countless bowling awards over the years and was the 3-time State of Nevada Bowling Champion.

Her hobby was knitting/crocheting, and she loved her weekly knitting club. It was always a fun time with the girls, and she could make the most beautiful Afghans and doilies.

She is survived by 7 of her 8 children, 19 of her 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren, and one sister, Juanita Taylor Boyd, the only remaining of her 9 siblings’.

She is preceded in death by her husband James Gerald Graham, her husband Howard Clanton Burnett, her son, Dan Gerald Graham, and her 4 brothers (George Taylor, Homer Taylor, Royal Taylor, David Taylor) and 4 sisters (Irene Pavlovic, Adah Erbes, Doris Taylor, and Norene Rodriguez).

Alice’s Memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, November 4th at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington with Pastor Michael Williams and the VFW Auxiliary officiating.  Her cremated remains will be buried in Michigan.

Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington, NV 89447 (775) 463-2911
