Daniel Alan Beckett: September 17, 1948 to December 4, 2022 “His grandchildren and great granddaughters were the light of his life”

Daniel Alan Beckett was born in Charleston, West Virginia on September 17, 1948 and passed away on December 4, 2022 in Sparks, NV surrounded by his loved ones. He was the oldest of five children and was lovingly referred to as ‘Alan’ by his parents and siblings.

Dan graduated from Catalina High School in Tucson, AZ in 1966. After high school he worked as a surveyor traveling around the West. In 1977, Dan traveled to Yerington, NV to visit his best friend, Don Renner and ended up going to work as the parts manager for Renner Equipment Company and eventually became part owner.

Dan met Cathy the love of his life in 1978 at Sweetwater Summit while snowmobiling with friends. Dan and Cathy were together from this time until his passing.

Dan enjoyed flying and owned a plane in his younger years. One of his favorite yearly traditions was attending the Reno Air Races to celebrate his birthday with Don and friends from California.

He always enjoyed watching NASCAR and rooting for Ford to take the win!! One of Dan’s hobbies was collecting Chevelle parts, planning and dreaming of his Chevelle rebuilds.

As a lifetime member of Yerington Lions Club, Dan was involved in numerous community activities and made lifelong friendships.

One of Dan’s greatest joys was spending time with his family. His grandchildren and great granddaughters were the light of his life.

Dan is survived by his wife Cathy, two daughters, Michelle (Paul) Herzbrun of Fallon, NV and Angela Banta of Yerington, NV, his grandchildren, Marissa (Zach) Gehlert of Sparks, NV, Kyle Banta of Yerington, NV and great-granddaughters Sophie and Kenzie Gehlert of Sparks, NV.

Dan is also survived by his three siblings, Barbara (Martin) Stoops of Missouri, Mark (Linda) Beckett and Dave (Dee) Beckett of Tucson, AZ along with numerous nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Edith Beckett and brother, Greg Beckett.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
