Marjorie Torres of Yerington Passes Away at 98 Years of Age

Marjorie Torres entered into Eternal Life on October 2, 2022. She was 98.

She was born to the Sam family of Smith Valley on July 4, 1924. She married, Mateo Torres-Galvan and made their home in Yerington. The couple had one child, Daughter, Linda Mary Torres. Linda’s marriage to Oscar Johnson Jr., provided Marjorie with two Grandchildren, Ronnie and Shawna.

Marjorie retired from the Lyon County hospital after many years of service.

Marjorie is preceded in afterlife by her Parents, Husband, Mateo Torres Galvan, Daughter, Linda M. Johnson, Son-in-law, Oscar Johnson Jr., and Grandson, Ronald Robert Johnson.

She is survived by her Granddaughter, Shawna D. Johnson, her Great-Grandchildren; Alexia Johnson-Kirsten, (Partner, Jakob Ott), Justina Santana, (Husband, Miguel Santana), Blake Kirsten, (Partner, Emma Hinkley), Great-Great Granddaughters, Adalynn May Brown and Kaija Snodgrass, Great-Great Grandson, Oliver Kirsten, all of Hungry Valley, Nevada. Granddaughter-in-law, Marla Pete and Great Grandson, Tristian Pete both of Las Vegas, Nevada and Margie’s close Friend, Leslie Eagle of Yerington, Nevada.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 10am, at the Yerington Paiute Tribal gymnasium, 171 Campbell Lane, Yerington; Burial immediately after the service at the Valley View Tribal Cemetery and a potluck will follow the burial at the YPT gymnasium.
