Yerington NV – June 16, 2026

Good afternoon Yerington Community!

The temperatures are getting pretty hot, so it’s a great time to say thank you to the Mason Valley Pool Board and their amazing community partners who helped get the swimming pool up and running just in time for summer! I know that your dedicated pool board members and these community members worked very hard to overcome some challenges and get the pool operational. Knowing that they are now up and operational, I’ve attached flyers with their rates. It’s great to see community come together and overcome these challenges, especially when so many of our kids benefit! Kudos to all involved.

Speaking of kids – Kids Day In the Park will be at Mountain View Park in Yerington this Thursday. Again, flyer attached. This is a great program orchestrated by our friends at Lyon County Human Services. The City of Yerington is happy to support this program and will have staff on hand to assist with the many great activities. I hope to see you there!

Also happening this weekend is the annual Yerington Main Street Car Show, put on by Dini’s Lucky Club. This event has turned into a premier event in town.

The weather seems to be cooperating, so come on down to Main Street this weekend and have some fun while looking at some beautiful cars and trucks!

You’ll see the mural on the West end of City Hall begin to take shape in the next few weeks. This “America 250” mural was grant funded by the Nevada Arts Council and will add a wonderful and patriotic theme to this otherwise bland space. Thank you to the many community members, including the Yerington NV Main Street Committee for pushing this grant process along and making this possible.

Monday, June 22 is our next regularly scheduled City Council meeting. The agenda and materials can be found at www.yerington.net. I’m limited on what I can/cannot say about items before the actual public meeting but always encourage you to check it out and stay informed. We will be reviewing Room Tax recommendations, some budget transfers, contract renewals and my own annual performance review, among other things. I hope you can make it down to the meeting. If you’re unable to, there is a zoom participation link on the agenda as well.

At your most recent City Council meeting, the City Council, in an effort to accommodate residents with evening availability, voted to move our Monday, August 24th meeting to 5:30 p.m. Again, this is an effort to afford those without availability during the daytime meetings to participate in an evening meeting. Zoom, or other online participation, is still expected to be an option.

Crack sealing and pot hole repairs continue this week, specifically in the neighborhoods south of East Bridge Street. Sandy Ave., Helen Ave., etc., will likely see some work this week to repair these roads. Please be cautious of public work employees working in the road, for your safety and theirs.

Regarding safety, the Yerington NV Police Department continues to take part in the impaired driving enforcement campaign. While these specific campaigns have dates associated with them, the need to be safe out there is something that we need to remember every day. I was fortunate to spend some time with our Chief of Police today, driving through some neighborhoods and speaking with members of the community about things happening in their parts of town. I’m a big fan of community style policing and the approach our Chief and the officers of YPD are taking to address issues and improve our community are wonderful to watch in progress.

The last item I’ll leave you with today is a flyer from our local Yerington Branch of the Lyon County Libraries. During these summer months especially, the library is a great place to visit with the kids and open their world to what’s available. Library activities are wholesome and rewarding, and the kids who participate can’t wait to come back again! Please check out this attached flyer and add them to your summer to do list!

Stay cool and healthy, but don’t forget to have some summer fun.

If you have any specific questions or concerns you can always contact me directly at jerryb@yerington.net.

Sincerely,

Jerry Bryant
