Walker Lake Rehydration Celebration on Saturday, September 23, 2023
“For the first time in six years, the waters of the Walker River have reached Walker Lake. The river has delivered enough water from this historic snowpack to raise the lake over 15 feet and the hopes of the Walker Lake Working Group for future restoration. Thousands of shorebirds and ducks have reappeared near the delta along the north shore of the lake supporting the age-old adage, “just add water and they will come”.”
“Walker Lake is far from a lost cause. We invite you to join us in celebrating these positive developments in the thirty-year struggle to save Walker Lake at our Rehydration Celebration on September 23rd. The event takes place at Monument Beach in the town of Walker Lake. The attached poster offers more details.”
“For further information, questions or to volunteer at the event contact the event coordinators Penny Tator, (408) 476-5152 or Nancy Hadlock (760) 258-6574.”
