Lyon County NV – November 6, 2026

Last night, the Nevada Donor Network held its annual Hope Dinner in Reno. This event is widely attended by partnering agencies and organizations of the Nevada Donor Network. Nearly every law enforcement agency, fire department, hospital, hospice, funeral home, and other related organizations partner with the Nevada Donor Network.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was nominated for three awards focusing on Deputy Coroner Cori Norman and Commander Abel Ortiz.

Deputy Norman received the Coroner Partner of the Year award. His work in the field goes above and beyond and we are proud of Deputy Norman.

Commander Ortiz received the Legacy Award for starting and maintaining the outreach programs and partnership between the Nevada Donor Network, and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.

We’re proud of Deputy Norman and Commander Ortiz!

We are also proud of our partnership with the Nevada Donor Network, an organization that plays an incredibly important role in saving and healing lives through organ and tissue donation.

Partnerships like this remind us that our responsibilities as public safety professionals extend well beyond the badge. Whether we are responding to an emergency, helping a family through a difficult time, or supporting an organization dedicated to giving others a second chance at life, relationships matter.

Strong relationships are built on trust, communication, and a shared commitment to serving others. By working together with organizations like Nevada Donor Network, we can make a positive impact that reaches far beyond our daily responsibilities.

At the end of the day, public safety is about people, relationships, and making a difference in our community.

Respectfully,

Sheriff Brad Pope
