Yerington NV – July 3, 2026

Two and a half centuries ago, a vision was set into motion. It’s easy to look back at the history books and view the founders of our nation as larger-than-life figures, but the reality is far more profound. Our nation was built by ordinary and imperfect individuals—farmers, shopkeepers, laborers, and families—who possessed no grand titles, only a shared conviction. They were everyday people who chose to look past their differences, stand shoulder-to-shoulder, and work together to accomplish extraordinary achievements that altered the course of human history.

In Yerington today, I see farmers, shopkeepers, laborers, and families that carry that exact same enduring American spirit.

Our story has always been written by the dedication of its people. Just like those who came before us 250 years ago, the individuals of our community prove that great progress is born from the local community. Every day, I see our neighbors coming together to support one another, build up our local businesses, volunteer their time, and push our beautiful city forward.

Before we celebrate tomorrow, I’d like to recognize our Yerington Chamber of Commerce and many local partners that have been hard at work planning and organizing to make the 250th Celebration incredible.

Please join us at City Hall at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday for a flag ceremony. After that, festivities will move to downtown and Mountain View Park.

At Mountain View Park will be the games with Lion’s Club and before I write much more, I’d like to say how incredible our local Lion’s Club is. The work they do behind the scenes, such as the flags on Main St. and games for kids are part of what makes our community so special. When you see a Lions Club member do me a favor and say thank you from all of us in Yerington. They’ve been supporting our community for over 70 years!

The City offices are closed today, but the work in town hasn’t stopped. You’ll notice work was done this week to repair and improve the water drainage issues around Veteran’s park, beautification at Mountain View Park, and our Yerington NV Police Department is on patrol ensuring a safe celebration. Street sweeping occurred in some Eastern neighborhoods. Our Public Works team worked hard this week to make improvements to a lot of these areas and I appreciate all of their hard work.

The work at Veteran’s Park will continue into next week as we try to improve that drainage system without breaking the bank to do it. Along with our public works crew, I’d like to give a special thanks to Scott Draper who has been critical in these improvements.

With that, I leave you to your 4th of July weekend. Celebrate, be safe, be proud.

Respectfully,

Jerry Bryant
