Yerington NV – April 3, 2026
Your team at City Hall is getting into the springtime Spirit! Staff had a potluck lunch today and paused for a fun photo. Or maybe we dress like this every day, who knows….

One of the best parts of working for our community, is that we have fun while we do it!
Before I get into any business, I’d like to wish you all a very Happy and Blessed Easter holiday from all of us here at the City of Yerington.

Be sure to bring your kiddos down to the 58th Annual Easter Egg Hunt provided by your Yerington Lion’s Club. That’s right 58th Annual……holy cow!
April is proving to be a busy time in Yerington. Please check out the flyers I’m attaching to this post for a glimpse of just some of the activities happening in our community this month.

Your Yerington NV Police Department is joining with the State of Nevada to conduct a Distracted Driving Campaign. One statistic that stood out to me from the attached press release is that reading a text while driving 55 mph is the equivalent of driving the length of an entire football field with your eyes closed. Considering the recent uptick in complaints regarding driving in our town, I’m very pleased to see YPD continue to take action.

Staff is also scheduled to participate in a NDOT workshop in a few months to again raise community concerns and speak on behalf of our community needs. Staff is committed to ensure that Yerington will be represented when these discussions are happening.
Repairs and equipment upgrades were made at the sewer ponds this week. While this equipment is in place and functioning to specs now, it may still take time for it to mitigate the odor issues we recently experienced. Weeks worth of muck building up will take time to break down and process correctly, but I’m happy to report it’s on track. I’d like to thank our Public Works team for expediting these repairs as soon as the equipment showed up.

Among the photos I’ve attached to this post is a photo of the new sign for Farmy’s Off Road Park, as you head up to Y-Hill. Improvements were recently made to this road and efforts to improve this outdoor recreation space are ongoing. Your City Council recently passed OHV ordinances allowing for approved OHV/ATV routes through town to connect you to this Off Road park and other nearby trailheads but they are not fully authorized just yet. Staff is currently working with NDOT to formally approve the routes, then once they are approved by NDOT, staff will work to codify the ordinances. Once we get these closer to the finish line we will be sure to provide an update.
You may have seen some information from your Yerington NV Main Street Committee regarding a mural project. Along with the grant funded mural in progress at the Yerington Chamber of Commerce, we have been selected by the Nevada Arts Council for mural funding for another project in town. The meetings to outline details are happening on April 9, so we should have more specific information in the coming weeks.

With that, I wish you all a Happy Easter and as always, you can reach out to me directly with any questions or concerns. jerryb@yerington.net.
Respectfully,
Jerry Bryant
Interim City Manager
