The Comfort House Foster Home Announces Request for Proposals to Support an Exciting Next Chapter of Trauma-Informed Care

Silver Springs NV – January 15, 2026

The Comfort House, a trauma-informed, family-style foster home serving primarily teens in rural Northern Nevada, is pleased to announce the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) inviting qualified individuals or organizations to help steward the program into its next phase of growth and long-term sustainability.

Since its inception in February 2024, The Comfort House has worked to provide a safe, healing home for children in rural Northern NV, impacted by trauma, instability, and system disruption. Grounded in the belief that children heal best in consistent, nurturing environments, the home has focused on individualized care, trauma-informed practices, and strong community connection.

“This RFP represents a moment of possibility,” said Gina Armstrong, Founder and Executive Director of The Comfort House. “We are proud of what has been built here, and we are excited to explore thoughtful, values-aligned partnerships that can help this home continue to grow and thrive for years to come.”

The RFP invites proposals from experienced foster care operators, nonprofit organizations, or qualified individuals who bring:

A strong understanding of trauma-informed, family-style foster care

Capacity for ethical, sustainable program operations

Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising, community partnerships, or public/private funding models

A child-centered approach aligned with The Comfort House’s mission and values.

Issuing the RFP reflects The Comfort House’s commitment to proactive planning, transparency, and continuity of care.

“This step allows us to be intentional and hopeful about the future,” Armstrong added. “Our responsibility is, and always will be, to the children. By exploring future leadership and operational models now, we can ensure this home remains stable, nurturing, and rooted in the philosophy that built it.”

Proposals will be reviewed by The Comfort House Board of Directors with an emphasis on collaboration, sustainability, and preserving the home’s trauma-informed, family-style culture.

The full RFP document, including submission guidelines and timelines, is available upon request at varmstrong@comforthousenv.org.
