Red Rooster Emporium Owner Jane Montelbano tells this story:
“During the 1950’s in Southern California, a once fashionable store (Macy’s) sadly closed to make room for progress.
“But before the store’s closure, there remained one last Christmas season. In the store’s lingerie department, workers had carried, from the basement, two dusty boxes.
“A sales clerk had carefully emptied the boxes, quickly assembling the delightful items inside.
“For her, it would be the last time the animated Santa doll dressed in unconventional white and gold, atop an elegant sleigh and pulled by a pair of dignified reindeer would ever be enjoyed by the store’s customers again.
“Decades passed as decades do, and only the boxed characters knew where they had been stored for the past 65 years. It was not until 2015 when they were rediscovered, boxes dusty and dented, furthermore disrespected, in the garage attic of an Estate Sale.
“Would they be restorable, my daughter Chrissy wondered? Animate or even clean up for that matter?
“The answer to that question has been in the window at the Red Rooster Emporium for the past 10 Christmas seasons. You are invited to see the night time magic of this adorable, vintage animated set during the quiet and peace of the season.”
