Phyllis Longero: May 22, 1934 to October 27, 2025 “Beloved by her Family & Community”

Phyllis Longero passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025.  She was 91.

She was born on May 22, 1934 in Reno, Nevada the daughter of Phillip and Fern Crowder.

Phyllis grew up in southwest Reno, attended Reno High School and The University of Nevada, Reno, where she met her husband of 50 years Jerry “Jake” Longero. They married and moved to Yerington, Nevada, where she taught at Yerington Elementary School.

Phyllis loved the San Francisco 49ers, she also enjoyed playing golf and bridge. She was always up for playing cards or having brunch with her great friends. But most of all, she loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren Brady and Jake.


Phyllis was predeceased in death by her husband Jerry “Jake” Longero, and her daughter Dawn Longero. Phyllis is survived by her son Dale Longero, and grandchildren Brady, Kristina, and Jake Longero, as well as Dale’s ex-wife Susan Longero Cameron.


Her Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 15th at Yerington Community United Methodist Church, 221 N Main St Yerington, Nevada 89447.  Family and friends are invited to sign her online guest book at www.FRFH.net

Patrick McGowan: Phyllis was a regular ray of sunshine in our house while I grew up there and every time I visited my parents. She would always stop by to visit and catch up with everyone. Such a wonderful, thoughtful friend to my parents and our family. Her memory will always be cherished by our family! You will be missed Phyllis. My heartfelt condolences to Dale and his kids. So very sorry for your loss Dale. We loved your Mom so much.

Julie Perumean: My friendship with Phyllis began when Jake was a resident in Long Term Care, where I worked. She left a lasting impression of a loving and very devoted spouse, who always wanted the best for Jake. Phyllis devoted her life to her family and community, and through the years taught me so much about service to others. I am one of many who is blessed to have called her “dear friend”. May she and Jake bask in their heavenly reunion.

Kathi Tanner Arigoni: Phyllis was such a kind, personable lady. She was my daughter’s teacher and a great friend to us. I miss visiting with her at the beauty shop. We spent years in Lions club together with our husbands. I’m sure she is so happy to be with Jake and Dawn now.

Gina Del Porto Moreda: Mrs. Longero was my absolute favorite teacher of all time. She was so kind and loving...

Kelly Fraser: She was a great lady! I always loved seeing her around town and I especially loved playing golf with her!

Kathleen Dye: …The community has lost a great lady. Both Phyllis and Jake were great pillars of the town…

Linda Edwards: …She was my 5th grade teacher, such a great teacher…

Kathy Chesney: Wow, she was an awesome lady! Great teacher, golfer and just a lovely person!

Monique Herbst: We are so very sorry for your loss Dale. Your mom was an amazing teacher and such a wonderful sweet person.

Cathy Beckett: Phyllis was a wonderful lady. She was fun to visit with, she always seemed positive. She certainly was a proud grandmother.
