Message of the Week 12/20/2024
The majority of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has been running on caffeine and the desire to bring a suspected murderer to justice. The operation in Fernley was very labor intensive and exhausting; however, everyone involved was determined to work until the suspect was apprehended. I am proud of the men and women who worked tirelessly and without hesitation to ensure the safety of Fernley and Lyon County residents during this operation.
Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (Raven and SWAT), Nevada Division of Investigations, Nevada State Police Highway Patrol, NTAC, Lyon County Juvenile Probation, Yerington Police Department, Lyon County Search and Rescue, Lyon County School District, Lyon County VIPS, NDOT, Churchill County Sheriff’s Office, and multiple community members and businesses that offered food and water for the teams.
Our condolences are with the victims and family members who are suffering due to the brutality of the suspect. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and we ask that the community keep the victims in their thoughts and prayers as well.
There are specific details of the investigation that are going to go unanswered at this time; I know the community has questions and concerns, but I want to ensure the community, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, is committed to transparency, and those questions will be answered in time. Thank you for understanding.
