Message of the Week 11/29/2024
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and stays safe while scrambling through stores for black-Friday deals. I would like to take this opportunity to share with you a much-needed program and organization coming to Lyon County, in January of 2025. The Comfort House is based in Silver Springs. The Comfort House will be providing trauma informed foster care to displaced children.
“Founded in 2023, The Comfort House hopes to serve displaced children in Rural Nevada for years to come. Our organization was established to address the growing need to assist school age children facing temporary removal from their families and homes through no fault of their own.”
“Our Mission and Vision:
At The Comfort House, our mission is to enhance the well-being of children in foster care by offering a nurturing, responsible, loving, safe, and secure home environment. We are dedicated to breaking the cycle of neglect, abuse, and addiction through a trauma-informed approach to daily living, providing these children with the opportunity for a brighter future.
While we hold all children in high regard, our primary focus is on school-aged children ranging from 5 to 18 years old. By prioritizing the needs of these vulnerable youth, we aim to create a supportive and empowering space where they can heal, grow, and thrive, ultimately setting the stage for a positive trajectory in their lives.
Our vision at The Comfort House is to implement a trauma-informed program that shapes the day-to-day experiences of the youth under our care. Each child within our walls is equipped with a personalized life plan tailored to address their distinct needs and circumstances.
Our ultimate objective is to inspire and empower children to cultivate confidence, resilience, and a profound sense of belonging. We strive to instill in them the unwavering belief that they are valued members of our schools and community, fostering a supportive environment where they can flourish and thrive.”
I have attached the link to The Comfort House website, there you can read more about the program and how to contribute to this great organization.
We are getting ever closer to the Shop with a Sheriff, and I wanted to thank Dennis Billow of Dayton (Santa), for volunteering his time to raise money for the Shop with a Sheriff program. Dennis spent several hours in front of Smiths in Dayton with our Deputies raising money. Dennis’ efforts truly made an impact on the Shop with a Sheriff program. Thank you, Dennis!
