LCSO Sheriff Brad Pope’s Message of the Week 03/01/2024
I would like to introduce the 2 newest members of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit. Deputy McCullough and his K9 partner Linda!
Deputy McCullough has been a Deputy for nearly 9 years, previously assigned to the Detention Division and Patrol Division. Deputy McCullough is currently assigned to Western Command, as the School Resource Officer of all Dayton Schools.
Deputy McCullough’s K9 partner Linda is originally from the country Hungary and comes to us through Vohne Liche Kennels, out of Banning, California. Linda is a German short hair pointer that is 3 years old and excited to work! Linda will assist Deputy McCullough in locating narcotics and firearms in our schools. Deputy McCullough and Linda are currently finishing their handler / dog certification in Carson City.
The purchase of our new K9 partner was funded through donation. The sincere thanks of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office goes to the Yerington Lions Club, and Larry and Linda Martin of Dayton, Nevada. Without contributions from the community purchasing working dogs and equipping the units would be extremely difficult!
If you subscribe to the “Sheriff’s App” you received a multitude of alerts for high winds and inclement weather heading our way. We adjusted the settings so the warnings are not being sent constantly with every change of the weather. That being said please practice safe driving while getting around this weekend throughout the region. The Lyon County Road Department, the Fernley Road Department and NDOT, though understaffed work extremely hard to try and keep the roads safe, and drivable.
Stay safe, and warm!
