Obituary for Eldon Boyes: June 25, 1941 to May 18, 2026

Yerington NV – June 24, 2026

Yerington has lost the One and Only, Original Frito Lay Dude!!

Eldon shuffled off his mortal coil on 18, May, 2026 and has moved on to be with the family so patiently waiting his arrival.

Dad was born on 25, June 1941, in Highland Park, Michigan.  Being raised in Detroit taught him to be tough.  Right after graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  From the time he went to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego California, he knew he was done with the Midwest.  After Boot was over, Dad moved onto Camp Pendleton for Advanced Infantry Training.  Dad served his 4 years honorably, being discharged in 1964.

Dad discovered Yerington during his time in the Service.  Eventually moving his family to there in 1973.  For 52 years his presence has been around there.  He always said there was only one way and only one day he would leave it.  And that day came in May.

A great sadness settled on the Boyes home in 2010 when his partner of 28 years, Lovette Gunn passed away.

Eldon is survived by his Sister, Marilyn Eikenberry, of Ludington, Michigan.  Also surviving him are his family, Vernon, Pat (Karen), Lovette Stiff (Anthony), Scott Gunn (Patty) Suzanne Kelton (Daron), Ron Gunn (Linda) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  The scattering of dad’s ashes will be held privately at a later date.  Please consider making a donation to the Yerington Dog Shelter or any animal rescue of your choice.

A very special “Thank You” to Terry and Vivian Miltenberger.  You are part of this family too.  Like it or not.

Fly high, fly free Dad.  Lovette has saved you a place with her.

The rest of us will see you later.
