Yerington NV – April 24, 2026

Good evening everyone!

I hope you have all enjoyed the April showers these last few days. We certainly need it.

This Sunday your Main Street Committee will be hitting the streets at 9 a.m. for another community cleanup. Please jump in and help if you’re able.

Speaking of Main Street you’ll notice the new mural on the west end of the Yerington Inn. The new 3D mural at the Chamber of Commerce will also be unveiled the evening of May 4th. We hope you can make it!

Your Mayor and City had a busy council meeting on April 13. During that meeting they recognized Yerington resident Mari Basaca Fuentes for being the Nevada State Champion of Poetry Out Loud. Ms. Fuentes also recited a powerful poem at the meeting, demonstrating her wonderful abilities.

Your next regular City Council meeting is this coming Monday, April 27 at 10 a.m. one of the topics this week is a review of Chapter 4 of the City Master Plan which speaks to seismic activity and steps the city can take to be prepared for seismic impacts. The timing was purely coincidental but very appropriate with recent activity.

Agendas and supporting materials can always be found at www.yerington.net.

There have also been recent Administrative Committee and Planning Commission meetings. Those agendas are in the same hub on our website.

The Administrative Committee was discussing the creation of a downtown district. This is an effort to create a vision and plan for a historic downtown appearance to attract higher tourism and charm. The goal here is to potentially increase traffic to downtown. There will be a follow up meeting on May 4 to discuss it further. Participation is always encouraged.

We had two items pass through the Planning Commission and each will appear before the City Council on May 11. One was a boundary line adjustment at McLeod Industrial Park and one was a parcel map. The parcel map, if approved, may pave the way for a fast food establishment to break ground.

With that, I need to get busy on some Little League business. As always, if you have any specific questions please email me directly. Jerryb@Yerington.net.

Have a wonderful weekend!
