Election 2026: Mario Walther Announces Candidacy for Lyon County District Attorney

Lyon County, NV — Mario Walther has announced his candidacy for Lyon County District Attorney, bringing with him a career dedicated to serving the Lyon County community. 

A fourth generation Nevadan, Walther has spent the entirety of his legal career working in Lyon County, building extensive experience within the local justice system and developing strong relationships across the community. As a resident of Lyon County, he understands firsthand the unique needs and values of the people who live here.

“I care deeply about this community and the people who call Lyon County home,” said Walther. “Throughout my career, I have worked closely with our courts, law enforcement, and residents, and I believe that experience has given me the perspective needed to serve effectively as District Attorney.”

In addition to his private practice in the County, Walther serves as a Commissioner on the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners. Walther is deeply knowledgeable about unique conservation and public lands opportunities, as well as challenges, facing Nevada. Walther has worked with non-profit organizations, ranchers, farmers, as well as members of Capitol Hill, government officials, and other stakeholders in regards to solutions to public lands and conservation issues facing the state of Nevada.

With a background that includes experience on multiple areas of law, Walther has developed a comprehensive understanding of how cases move through the courts. He believes this experience provides valuable insight into strengthening prosecutions, ensuring accountability, and preventing cases from falling through the cracks.

“I have seen how the system works from every angle,” he said. “That experience allows me to identify weaknesses, build stronger cases, and make sure justice is served while maintaining fairness and integrity.”

As District Attorney, Walther would prioritize strong partnerships with local law enforcement, protecting victims, and ensuring that the justice system works effectively for the people of Lyon County.

Mario Walther currently lives in Lyon County with his family and remains actively involved in the local community.
