Mason Valley NV – March 5, 2026From community reporter Travis Crowder

With the growing season here, a group of organizations, non-profits and individuals wanted to share our collective appreciation. Time and time again, this group is grateful for the incredible work done by David and Pam Peri and everyone at Peri & Sons Farms.

Our valley, for all the booms, busts, and future growth, is and has always been built on the back of agriculture. Since 1979, David Peri and his family farm have been a gigantic part of that history. Quickly becoming one of the largest onion producers out there, and now a staple in the produce industry, Peri & Sons Farms brings a sense of hometown pride whenever you see them at your favorite grocery store.

On top of that, they carry such a heavy load in actually making sure our hometown can continue to be what we all know and love. By employing hundreds and hundreds of good, hard-working people, they create opportunities for people to thrive, have families, and continue to call our valley home. In fact, they do such a good job of providing good-paying jobs and opportunities in our area that 90% of Nevada farm employees are employed through Peri & Sons Farms or Nevada Fresh Pak. It’s truly hard to picture what our valley would look like without them, or if any of us would even have had the chance to stay or move here.

Past that, our collective group has found David, Pam and so many people who work with them to be some of the most genuinely caring and generous people we’ve ever met. It’s not an exaggeration to claim that tens of millions of dollars have been poured into this community, often times personally from the family, to make it better.

-Peri & Sons Farms, with their own crews and equipment, worked tirelessly and around the clock to prevent much of our community from flooding in the spring of 2023. All the while, they continued their farming operations to make sure people were fed.

-David and Pam personally have been the single largest driving force behind Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley, both in Mason Valley and throughout Lyon and Mineral County. Pam, a board member since its inception, actively advises and fundraisers for the organization and the Peri & Sons company recently donated 160 acres of land for Night in the Country’s new home, The Grange. Their overall support, through both donations and volunteer time, has been so large for thousands of youth growing up, that the Club’s Yerington Clubhouse bears the David and Pam Peri name.

-The Peri family is a perennial major donor to Through a Child’s Eyes Foundation, a cultural non-profit spearheaded by Cathe Faretto. Without the support of Peri & Sons Farms, performances like the Nutcracker or facilities like the studio on Main Street may never be a reality.

-Peri & Sons Farms again rose to the occasion for our community over the last several years in partnering with Walker River Little League. Through the direct work and man-hours from Peri & Sons Farms and its employees, brand new turf was laid out at the tee-ball field, and much-needed drainage was put in at the softball field. Time and time again, Peri & Sons Farms steps up when needed by Little League, allowing the league to host multiple, multiple-division All-Stars tournaments in recent years.

-David and the company also support those who support others. At the 2025 Walker River Communities Foundation dinner, the ag company donated an astonishing $50,000 through the auction, allowing the Communities Foundation to support countless efforts in Mason and Smith Valleys.

-Lyon County Sheriff’s office has received numerous gifts from Peri & Sons Farms, including for its K9 program. With five dogs on the job in our county, drug and narcotics offenders are more likely to be caught, arrested and taken off our streets. Not to mention all of the other support for their efforts.

-For years, Peri & Sons and South Lyon Medical Center have worked hand in hand on operations, ensuring that mutual support that goes both ways to provide vital services and infrastructure to our valley.

-Peri & Sons annually donates to Yerington Lions Club and the Josh Farler Helping Hands Foundation, providing nearly 100 turkeys for the turkey shoot and making sure local families have the funds they need during extended trips to hospitals out of the area.

While these specific examples highlight some of the tremendous work this family and company has done and supported in our valley, it’s just that – some. Their impact goes far and beyond the groups here and the items on our list.

We truly want to recognize David, Pam and Peri & Sons Farms for being a driver of our valley and a tremendous impact on our community.

Respectfully and with gratitude,
