Victor Phillip Urschel passed away at his home in Yerington on Sunday, September 7, 2025. He was 67.
Victor was born March 25, 1958 in Los Angeles, California the youngest of two sons of Peter and Hilda Urschel.
He spent most of his youth in Orange County, California before moving with his Mother and brother to Sacramento area in 1971. In 1976 he graduated from La Sierra High School in Carmichael, California and soon after was hired as a seasonal firefighter with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) for a couple of years before working several years in housing construction. In 1987 he joined the Sacramento County Department of Airports, Vehicle/Equipment Maintenance Division at Sacramento International Airport. In 2011 he retired from Sacramento County and soon after relocated with his wife, Nini to Yerington, Nevada.

Vic loved the outdoors, especially the mountains and desert and loved to explore them with motorcycles, ATVs and jeeps. Often weekends and days off were spent with his wife and friends camping and exploring backroads in the Sierra Nevada or the Nevada deserts. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to a neighbor or friend.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ninetta (Nini) Urschel of Yerington; his brother, Peter and his wife Luisa Urschel of Woodland, California;
his Mother-in-law, Vilma Sirovatka of Yerington, Nevada; brother-in-law, Anthony and his wife Luanne Sirovatka of Omaha, Nebraska; as well as several nieces and a nephew.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, September 18, 2025 at the Valley View Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will then be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 4, 2025 at the Assembly of God Church, 210 North Oregon Street, Yerington and a BBQ will follow the service at the Urschel home at 44 Robin Road, Yerington.
