Lyon County Board of County Commissioners Meeting Summary ― September 4, 2025

Yerington, Nevada – The Lyon County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) met on Thursday, September 4, 2025 to hear presentations and take action on several significant agenda items. Highlights from the meeting include:

Board of Health:

The Board recessed to reconvene as the Lyon County Board of Health and heard several presentations. Representatives from SilverSummit Health Plan shared information about its managed care services that will begin serving county residents in January 2026. The Nevada Health Authority provided an overview of the newly established agency and an overview of the county Medicaid match program. In addition, Lyon County Human Services Director Shayla Holmes presented the Division of Child and Family Services FY 2025 Child Protective Services Summary. Additionally, an update was given on the Smith Valley Advisory Board regarding a potential Vector Abatement Program.

Planning Items:

• Hunters Place LLC – Approved the request from Hunters Place LLC Series A for a Zoning Map Amendment to amend the Zoning Map designation from the Title 10 district of RR-5 (Fifth Rural Residential District – 20 Acres) to the Title 15 district of AG (Agriculture – 20 acre minimum), located at 1380 Hwy 208 in Mason Valley for a parcel totaling approximately 23.16 acres (APN 012-421-01), PLZ-2025-042.

• Lucas Homes & Development LLC – Approved the request from Lucas Homes & Development LLC for a Zoning Map Amendment to amend the Zoning Map designation from the Title 10 district of C-2 (General Commercial District) to the Title 15 district of TC-S (Tourist Commercial – Suburban), for a 5.21-acre portion of one parcel located at 3000 Hwy 50 and for a 17.04-acre parcel located in the western quadrant of the intersection of Hwy 50 and Traditions Parkway, in Dayton (APNs 016-401-97 and 029-782-16), PLZ-2025-043.

Other Board Actions:

• Utilities – Updated the Board on the recent and ongoing activities related to the effluent disposal capacity of the Aspen Creek Rapid Infiltration Basins.

• Human Services – Approved a subscription agreement between Lyon County and SolusGaurd for $2,074.35, to purchase panic button devices and an annual subscription service to be grant funded through FY26 Healthy Nevada Respite and SAMSHA Youth MOST (C3) funding, and to authorized the Human Services Director to sign.
