Good evening Yerington,
Before I get in to updates, I’d like to remind you to send the kids down to the library this summer. Our library has some amazing programs happening and I’ve attached one of their flyers to this post. This is a wonderful and productive way for kids to spend some time. Be sure to also check out their story telling and activities next Friday at 10:30 & 12:30 as well!

Now for some updates:
We had a very busy and productive week.
Monday started with the appointment of our newest City Councilman, Nick Beaton, and our new Municipal Judge, Brandi Jensen. Welcome to both!

Our council also passed utility fee updates that will take place September 1. These updates are critical to the continued operation of our facilities.
The council also approved our continued partnership with Nevada Rural Housing. If you’re not familiar, NRH offers several programs to assist homebuyers with the purchase of their homes, including down payment assistance. To find out more, please visit their website. nvrural.org
Cleanup continued at Mountain View Park with the completion of painting the gazebo in the back of the park and horseshoe pits. You’ll notice a consistent color scheme happening at all of our parks for consistency.

We also repaired several sprinklers and sprinkler systems in parks for a more practical operation and also to revive those dead spots. It’s important for the health of our parks that sprinklers work correctly and efficiently. If you happen upon a broken sprinkler, please notify us by calling or texting (775) 364-8895.
We will continue weed duty next week, and firing up our crack sealer for several trouble spots.
If you’re a local business owner, I strongly encourage you to connect with our Yerington Main Street Committee and Yerington Chamber of Commerce. Both are actively working on programs to help you develop and advance your business. There are grants, business education, event calendars and more. As a city we are proud to be a partner and offer support to these programs. Check them out!

Have a great weekend,
Jerry Bryant
