Silver City, NV – June 17, 2025 – The Silver City Preservation Society is thrilled to unveil the Silver City Community Mural during the 5th annual Silver Palooza this Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. This monumental work of art, created by over 35 dedicated community members, stands as a testament to the town’s rich history and dynamic spirit. The project was facilitated by Tridentata Arts, an arts education group led by Molly Moore, Lauren Gandolfo, and Annie Clark.
About the Mural
The Silver City Community Mural spans an impressive 62-foot-long retaining wall bordering the basketball court in the scenic Silver City Park. This vibrant artwork acts as a visual timeline of Silver City’s history, depicting key places and events and prehistory that define the community. It includes landmarks such as the Silver City Schoolhouse, Devil’s Gate, and the Historic Cemetery. The mural also celebrates the community’s cultural life, showcasing scenes of music, shared meals, and the natural wonders of the area—including soaring hawks, iconic ridgelines, and beloved animal companions.

A Collaborative Community Effort
The creation of this remarkable mural was the result of months of collaborative effort, primarily executed by untrained artists under the expert guidance of Tridentata Arts. The journey began in October of 2024 with a presentation by Dr. Robert Elston, a respected archaeologist and long-time resident, who shared the cultural history of Silver City. This presentation sparked lively community discussions about the mural’s design, which evolved over months of preparation and brainstorming.

The painting itself took place during one extraordinary week in early June. Community members worked together tirelessly, watching the mural transform from initial mockups into a stunning, concrete tapestry of Silver City’s story. Their collective dedication and creativity brought this ambitious project to life.
Grand Unveiling at Silver Palooza
The mural’s unveiling will take place during Silver Palooza, a free community festival held in Silver City Park from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday. The event will feature live music, delicious food, vendors, crowd entertainment, vendors, film and memorabilia display and more, providing the perfect backdrop to admire this new community masterpiece.

Funding and Support
The Silver City Community Mural was made possible through generous funding from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional support from the Silver City Preservation Society.
